I’ve heard you loud + clear. Attracting customers to your business is challenging. Getting them to buy from you again and again is even more of a tricky pickle.
And this summer slump has you down in the dumps.
So, this week and for the rest of the summer, I’ll be outlining my favorite customer attraction strategies that you can implement right away. First up:
Surprising your Customers
What you do before, during and after a customer’s experience with you is key. Sneaking amazing surprises into your business offerings creates loyal advocates who become customers for life and raving fans of your brand – spreading the word about your business like wildfire.
So, how can you surprise and delight your customers?
Exceed Expectations
Just checking out the Zappos.com testimonials provides great insight into how to exceed expectations. Zappos surprises customers with lightening-speed shipping, no hassle returns and exchanges, and unparalleled customer service.
Reward Customers
Little gifts and handwritten thank you notes are a great way to surprise your customers with a little extra kudos. Rewarding them when they least expect it is an even better surprise. For example, surprising a client with an afternoon coffee at their office or sending a small gift 6 months after they purchased something from your business.
Make them Laugh
Humor is memorable, and being memorable means attracting more customers. Novelty gift company Vat 19 does this brilliantly with their product parody videos. For an immediate laugh (and some inspiration) check out their Gummy Shot Glass Video HERE.
Remarkable Offerings
If your existing products and services elicit big snores from your customers, it’s time for a makeover. Great offerings attract customers, so brainstorm some ways you can get people excited about your services or products. One of my favorite offerings is I Wear Your Shirt – check them out to get your creative juices flowing.
Which “surprise” will you use? Post a comment below and let us know!

Writing a script for a retro skit-style book trailer. I think humour is going to be the best, most memorable way to increase exposure! cheers!!
I'm getting ready to launch my first product, and even though it's going to be a very low cost introductory product, I've decided to go above and beyond by offering a series of follow-up email to answer questions the customer might have as they use the product.
